FORTESCUE IS AN ISLAND NESTLED IN THE SALT MARSHES ALONG THE DELAWARE BAY. A HISTORIC FISHING VILLAGE, FORTESCUE IS FAMOUS FOR BEING THE WEAKFISH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. IT IS A NATURE LOVER'S PARADISE FOR FISHING, BIRDWATCHING, BEACH COMBING, AND VIEWING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS. A HORSESHOE CRAB SANCTUARY, IT IS A FEEDING GROUND FOR RED KNOTS, RUDDY TURNSTONES, AND MANY OTHER MIGRATING SHOREBIRDS. FORTESCUE IS ALSO IN THE FALL MIGRATION PATH OF THE MONARCH BUTTERFLY. IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO SEE OSPREYS DIVING FOR FISH, BALD EAGLES OVERHEAD, AND THE ENERGETIC PURPLE MARTINS DARTING AROUND. WHALES, DOLPHINS, OTTERS, MINK, MUSKRAT, FOX, COYOTE, AND TURKEY ARE HERE. BRING BINOCULARS! 

HUNGRY? CHECK OUT HIGBEE'S FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH. ALSO THE CHARLESWORTH IS OPEN ON WEEKENDS, AND THE BAYSHORE GRILL OPEN EVERY DAY AFTER MEMORIAL DAY. BULL ON THE BARN IN NEWPORT, TOO.
